It supports the claim that to get better at the game, you play only a few heroes hundreds of times. Dota plus feature makes that journey more fun with rewards, points, and badges.

It provides a colorful quantitative measurement of your skill on any particular hero.

There's also an avoid feature which is useful when you keep losing with the same people over and over.

It equips you with gimmicks and gadgets for a decent price. Sometimes in low to mid avg. MMR, high hero mastery can actually intimidate the enemy team to be very careful of you (or massacre you)
