I think Valve should add make people add and confirm a phone number to participate in the Battle Cup. May not be 100% effectively but it may dissuade at least a fraction of said smurfers
It's just an easy way to boost Compendiums. So no, Volvo wouldn't do anything. They want to sell compendiums, not your good experience.
These accounts are all bot created to put them at your MMR bracket. Then these are used for Battle Cup wins and faster compendium leveling is what I observed.

Its normal. Especially in battle cup final, where likelihood of some 6k-7k smurf is very high. Thats why its better to play with a smurf 6k friend like my maits do. I dont do that, but still never won final in tier 6-7 so far.
its highly not worth it for the smurfing players and they r punishing themselves
no one rly does it now cz valve alrdy did smthng about it - treasures are not tradeable anymore and u dont gain anything actually useful out of winning the battlecup

It seems that smurfing the lower tiers of the Battle cup is "trendy" at the moment! My question is this... will valve do anything about it? I guess i can wave bye bye to the 1 euro i wasted on bothering to enter, thinking I would be matched with equally skilled players. This is the equivalent of Usain Bolt taking roids, and racing 15 years olds... anyone else had a similar experience? Just check my profile from yesterday :/! Sorry if this is covered somewhere already
