Those are two opposite answers. I find it hard to believe that he remains unpicked, bad hero or not I am sure there are people that do well with the hero and play him.
I believe you but help me understand, but what makes him terrible? I know their are other heroes that you could play in place of him, but it is just hard to think that he is unplayable in any situation.
Even if someone is really good at hooking, he truly does not fit onto any team comp even as a support?
I actually cant play pudge anymore because of the hook speed. I am way too used to the old speed

Pudge is my most played, used to play nothing but pudge. Then one day I realized I wasn't playing dota anymore, and hooking people was all I cared about. That was fun for a long time, but eventually I got bored and realized I sucked at dota, having focused on just playing pudge for years. So I started to basically relearn the game, and have had some luck with support or roaming pudge.
I am used to mid pudge, but I realized that he fails against many true mid heroes, and there are plenty of better heroes for mid. So where does that leave pudge? I used to jungle/roam with him, but they recently nerfed the ability to pull mid creeps. Which is unfortunate because on dire it was an OP way of denying the enemy XP and getting a fast level 2.
So how does pudge usually lane in higher brackets? I assume mostly roaming, but just curious. I am pretty good at killing people early, but in terms of carrying I am not very good so I try to stick with gankers/support/pushers lately.
