I thought Daedalus was a must have on a Magnus who builds Echo Sabre. Or is that just my pubs?

i rather have force to daedalus but pike is good if you need to save several people in fight with 12 sec cooldown

well depends on the game. if you have a hard hitting core you go for blink force refresher

do you really need to force enemy with pike?

buy dominator, have a little cent, or an ogre follow you arround, gg you have more tanking power than dragon lance

Dude its pike for the stats not forcing enemies. Its clearly situational, but my point is is it viable? Bkb is usually the go to, but sometimes (rarely) u wont need it.

Hotd for magnus is ok, thing is that he has better items imo. Its not bad but not great enough. He needs mobility more.

I'm that weird player that goes Basi, Phase, Drum, Blink, Force, Vlads, Aghs and then a casual HotD to get the Wolf. And this was pre 7.00. If you were on my team, you would laugh and report. I could actually explain this build in intricate detail, as I've put a lot of thought into it, but I won't. Instead I'll return to the topic at hand and say it just has to be MORE viable than anything else you could build at that point for the same price. Upgrading to Pike costs 2150 gold and gives you 15 strength, 20 agility and reduces the active by 6 seconds. I think a rushed Pike on him is most valuable when you have to save stupid team mates who do stupid things often in team fights or need the hp stats for high end burst damage because, well, you are the person initiating after all. BKB won't save you from an Ursa that throws on his ult through Aghs, but a Refresher might. Orrrr maybe the extra stats from a Pike would. Just something to think about, yeah?

Pike is also force staff with broken cooldown and additional stats

As you can see, Force Staff is infinitely better on Magnus because it lets you make plays by forcing the enemy toward you with old school Force. Hurricane Pike's active is shit for this sole but very important purpose.

So force when u spooked by say a rubick who will steal rp? So u can force and rp him too? But then my question is, is force needed against riki, and if u buy force, is the pike upgrade good?

you buy pike when you want to send somebody as far away from you as possible, and in 90% cases as magnus want the opposite, so you should probably never go for pike unless you have a good reason

also it's still expensive and stupid to dump so much gold into an upgrade that does not exactly benefit you that much, compared to other stuff

Magnus goes rightclick now with echo, because the main drawback of shit like forcestaff is ur lack of scaling and huge dependence on rp, or at least skewer which also has a big cd. So if ur forced to go forcestaff, maybe they have a viper or a clock or riki or something, then is it viable to upgrade to pike for the added stats to help u transition better to a right clicking core so u can fix the forcestaff builds bigger drawback. Also why r people saying its bad because u push people away, the point is to push urself forward not enemies away. U wud use it like how jd uses pike on slark.

also you can get a fucking crystalis if you really want to 'transition' into something useful, the only reason to get a pike upgrade is if you are six slotted and can't buy anything else

in most cases you only upgrade to pike when you have to and when you have a clear benefit to it

sniper and drow players have an obvious reason for this, magnus doesn't, and he can get other items that suit his role much more

also, bad players only force staff themselves, there are tons of fights where you can force staff the enemy to win them, and pike defeats this purpose

AS A MAGNUS YOU DO NOT WANT TO FORCE PEOPLE AWAY FROM YOU, you are not a ranged hero so you won't get 4 free attacks, you can just force yourself out of danger if needed (800 vs 600 range), etc

if there's more than one enemy chasing to kill you, force staff is actually superior

also hurricane pike is a piss poor DPS item for the price, especially on non agi heroes
