^i dont get all the hulabaloo with speedrunning pkmn, but how do you do it at all though? Speaking of speedrunning, i used to do speedruns of the mega man zero games

main thing about pokemon speedruns is the routing: exp, money, time management. you have a few strats to execute, always depending on your luck.
especially in pokemon red, due to redbar, and the fact that the redbar jingle skips other sounds, you can play at a fairly high risk to save a ton of time. unless a major improvement out of nowhere comes, I'd say that the game is kinda solved, it has reached a stalemate between risk taking and time saving. the people are just playing it out of enjoyment, with good luck and execution you'd probably get like 1:47 atm, but you can't really go any lower
