There is no rule, it just works that way, it's not even intentional.
Valve didn't just say " Okay, everyone gets one rage quit a week. " It just happens to work that way cause of how frequently people DC, and they just want the system to be somewhat lenient for people who can get an abandon for legitimate reasons. (They have to go, or internet cuts off)
I'm looking for what is the exact time after which you can abandon again after abandoning. It's 5 days or something, but I want to be sure. I believe it is not just one abandon a week.
2 abandons for LPQ, simple as that. There's no cooldown period. After you complete your LPQ, the count resets, simple?
You're not supposed to say "I get 1 free abandon per week so I can ragequit once now."
You're supposed to say "I will do my best to not abandon, but I am thankful that I get leniency if my internet cuts out."
My internet almost never cuts out, so I want to use the opportunity to not play some heavy games instead. And I want to know how often can I do that.
@ Chaoshype it's not simple because you can abandon every week and you won't get low prio, there's a cooldown.
You're not supposed to abandon on purpose. The leniency is for the people who had a fire drill in their dorms for example.
Sure, you won't get punished for 1 abandon a week, but you're not supposed to abandon on purpose.
There are a lot of things that are legal but you shouldn't do it anyways.
i think i've heard somewhere something like every 20 games or so
i'm not sure though. it looks like a rather low number
my guess is that lpq is given based on your number of games abandoned out of your recent games, rather than it being a time based one.
if you wanted you could test it out yourself. make a new account. abandon your first game, wait a week or more, and then abandon the next. if the lpq criteria is reset once per week then you won't get lpq. if it's based on recent games, abandoning 2 for 2 is probably going to land you lpq.
ur not going to get an 'exact' answer from anyone but valve and they're obviously not going to do so.
why would u abandon if u can just go mid into enemy t1, wait for respawn go again, buyback and go again
I used to think it was time based such as one week but now I think it's game based like 20 games . Someone would have to test as suggested to get an exact number . I don't play dotes as often any more so I pretty much never have to abbandon any more due to trying to squeeze in a extra dotes .

What's the rule when you get a free abandon without going to low priority when you haven't abandoned for some time? (Exactly)
