there was a custom map where u have arrow/sunstrike/hookshot/hook, its pretty good but idr its title
Overthrow won't help you. The only custom game which help you to get better at normal dota is Pudge Wars.
thats the skillshot map Triple, but in general in my opinion to learn positioning, kill and overall react fast, Overthrow 5v5v5 its great
as 5v5v5, overthrow becomes literally a deathmatch mode on a smaller map, which is rly great to improve your short-term decision making, reaction and other stuff u need to fight properly, so i guess pm1000 is not right here.
pudge wars are like skillshot but a bit worse.
Skillshot Wars is pretty nice.
Also there's this Slide Ninja Slide where you have 0.7sec long refraction, a blink, a skillshot nuke and a dagger that can be disjointed - and you can kill a guy with one hit since everyone has 1hp. The basic idea is that reaction time is the most important thing here, you can dodge pretty much everything and win every single game if you are godly, and not be able to hit a person one time if you are even slightly worse than that person. I think it's good to get some reflexes, you'd be surprised how many people actually lack the reflexes/mechanic ability to dodge some simple things with blinks/forcestaff/manta/etc, and this kinda teaches you to time things well in relation to how fast the projectile is, to position yourself so you can't get hit from outisde of your own vision, etc.
The same thing goes with Skillshot Wars.
talking about dodging, I for some reason feel drawn to miranas arrow from time to time, like i already avoided it but i run towards it and get hit.
Wierd I know
^I think that's some basic brain mechanics, when you play Mirana you REALLY want that arrow to connect to get that dopamine rush, so it messes up your thinking when you're playing AGAINST mirana. Remember you also feel confused when you don't get it when the arrow hits you. Also most of us have spent years playing games where you go around collecting things, and that arrow is just so juicy...
Also sometimes you're distracted and brain dead and worry about other things and aren't really present in the game, so you casually walk into CM ult, eat up Mirana's arrow, let Jakiro freeze you despite his atrocious animation, forget to blink out to dodge PA's dagger when she's about to mercilessly murder you, etc.
That being said, when I play against Mirana and know her arrow can pop out anytime (mirana not visible on the map), I am very weary and alert at all times, so I actually have improved awareness of other things too.
Overthrow is way best, most fun and most teaching mode of all custom games period. If you're fuckin recking people there on daily basis, you definitely learned how to kill off people and it can help you in real games for sure.
You're Kuroky #2 rubick dude, but honestly you need to learn at least 2 more heroes which can kill off people easier then rubick xD
agreed, you need to expand ur hero pool
although i dunno why would u consider an advice from someone who knows to play 1 hero, even if it cuts trees
I agree that overthrow helps. It's just a team fight simulator, and only a few minutes each real dota game are you team fighting. Of course you don't fight exactly the same as in Overthrow as in a real game but you get the idea.
^and only a few minutes each real dota game are you team fighting
you gotta try russian server some day
Mechanically, lots of individual custom game maps can help your dota skill level.
But ingraining mechanics is such a small part of dota as a whole, it's much better to focus on one concrete objective to practice. Practicing last hitting against an insane bot, for example; or repeatedly farming the jungle for the first 10 minutes of lots of bot games.
Custom maps for mechanics? Ehhh, maybe.
Custom maps for game sense? Probably not.
Custom maps for farming? Nope.
