doesn't really matter. do what you are comfortable with.
ehome cty also uses it on the right btw
when i see minimap on the right (like in lol) my brain has this strange feeling of wanting to break something.
well most people have it on the left because the default was on the left in wc3, that is dota.
so most people are just already used to have it on the left. also I heard (unofficial ofc) that having minimap on the right increases the chance of getting cancer by 1.05%
edit: typos
Hi i made a reddit post which may help you with this :)
https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/3c3lnp/eye_dominance_test_useful_for_minimap_placement/
When I try play with it swapped around now though, I have no problems looking at the map and it seems fine
My problem is when I'm buying items from the shop, it's just strange and I spend forever trying to find my item or get used to it
Kinda proves your reddit post though ^^
Dota2 shop is, simply put, not good. I play the game for a long time now and I still type in items in search bar because it's easier/faster.
I miss old shops from dota. it took bigger space but I fucking loved it.

Basically when I first did the DOTA tutorial it asked me where I wanted the mini map and I chose randomly and said right
Thing is I am right handed and I see most people have their mini map on the left
Now it's always been like something niggling at me and once or twice I even tried swapping the mini map but I'm just too used to it the other way and I can't handle shopping on the right.
So does it have any effect? Should I have a few bad games with an uncomfortable mini map & shop so that I should get better in the future?
Edit: Got confused between my left and rights xD
