It depends what you call fun.
Anyway people here are usually nice as long as there arent any 2k or 3k player claiming that they are losing because of their team.
"Anyway people here are usually nice as long as there arent any player claiming that they are losing because of their team."
is more accurate :)
it isn't elitist - you can see genuinely nice threads when people post their climb from 1k to 2k - it just hates fantasists who blame their condition on everything apart from themselves.
"it isnt elitist"
you must be new. People here flame 5ks pros your mom and pretty much everything they can. Lack of moderation is showing out i guess
implying mods should delete stupid flames
they should delete only really over the top stuff and spams
flaming 5k pros is the opposite of elitist.
i say again you only get abuse for being a dick on this forum
Freedom is better. Artificially subduing trolls and flamers with authoritarianism will only drive them to more insidious means. The ultimate result is that bullies will obtain control of the governing mechanism enshrining their particular vices and favoritism in law.
Some time ago i complained about the lack of moderation of the forum, it has improved a lot, it was pretty fucking bad.
Nowadays the flames are pretty soft.
I think the forum is pretty elitist xD
I've seen a lot of "normal skill" peoples opinion put down because they're in normal skill
(and maybe their opinion is wrong, but argue with facts not the normal skill aspect)
It will be like "I like sunny weather" , and someone will reply "Who cares about what you like?? You're normal skill!"
Considering over half of DOTA players are normal skill it makes the forum very elitist but anyways
Whatever it was/is must have been really obvious, and
dismissing it and labeling it as 'normal skill' is just much easier than writing out a deliberate explanation
But if you make a proper question youll get atleast one decent reply because there's always someone procrastinating haha

wow forums so elitist look at that poor guy asked a question and people flamed him cuz hes normal skill
get your facts straight people are flamed when they act like retards and thats it
@Mokujin
nah the normal skill thing comes up for a lot of situations
For example:
Someone can be explaining their build for abaddon --> Another will see it and be like yeah stupid build you're normal skill
It's not obvious to the normal skill guy even if it is to a guy who is 6k, so a post like that is just unhelpful and elitist
Yeah some guy has played 6000 games more then you so then you are treated as the biggest noob by them
And you are noob obviously, but if you can't post to a forum with out getting attacked on just for an opinion then it becomes a forum for 6k people
Another note: I've been given builds to try by VHS skill people and been attacked for using the build because I am normal skill with no added logic
@Sano
Only time it isn't elitist is when people are asking directly for advice and/or mentioning how noob they are in the post
Plus it's a lot better now then it was 6 months ago
Yeah, i don't think my stats are bad at all, a few more games than i'm in high skill, and i get so much shit for being normal skill. But that's normal, same thing happens in MMO's, people think they're better than you AT LIFE just cause they're a higher level than you with bad ass gear, pretty laughable.
Relentless is the biggerst troll on this forum and no1 ever noticed in 5 years or so
@Crudude:
We usually use the normal skill argument to point out that the guy doesn't have the same knowledge as other people in higher skill. There is a reason why some people have 7k mmr and others have 1k mmr. If you are stuck in normal skill you obviously do not know what you're doing.
Also, we only flame people who bitch to much like X6 does.
^
Yes it used to point out the fact that your knowledge is higher, but it is not always done in a "hey, you're wrong I'm right way"
It is sometimes done in a "how dare you have an opinion on anything" way or a "I'm a better, smarter person then you so shut up" way or a "hahaha you're normal skill you noob" way
Elitist! Honestly that was my first impression of dotabuff forums but it has improved so much lately
but seriously if you have like 2300 mmr, and won 3 matches in a row with headress on pa , that doesn't mean it's good and you shouldn't make a thread about it.
people with lower mmr tend to have too high egos, but that is also true of high mmr players tho
