To dotabuff devs, having a division normal players can't get into is unfair in hero rankings. in General Discussion

What is the point of hero rankings if there is a division only "some" people are allowed in. For example, Meepo rankings. Every person under division "professional" has their points skewered; weeha has less kda/half the games played and a lower win rate than the guy below him.

    Brax
    .a puppy
    Bian
    потороченый
    Godot

all have 50 games, and do not play in any special "professional" division. They play in the same brackets as us casual players play in DotA 2 which is Ranked MMR; I have personally played with Brax's meepo mid and he played horribly. But because he is in a professional division, his games counts for more which makes no sense. Hence why all these players have 50 games and are in the top 100

So basically if you're a casual player, you will never beat a professional player even though you play the same Ranked MMR or even have higher MMR there in a special division catered to them.

This applies to all professional players in all hero rankings, and you can find disparities in every hero top 100 list, so that leads to the question what is the point of hero rankings if it is biased?

    Suggestions to make this fair

    1) Remove the "professional" division in hero rankings and give professional players the division they actually belong to. Just because you're professional doesn't mean you'll be diamond.

    2) Allow all players to reach "professional" in hero rankings

    3) Make separate professional / casual player rankings but it seems a little redundant since we all play in the same queue.

(This is not to bag on Brax or any professional player, but hopefully a way to put perspective on hero rankings)

So what do you guys think? Maybe all professional players are just better than us and deserve a special division catered to them. Maybe they deserve it because of the work they put in being a professional player. I don't think there should be any catering in hero rankings, and there are a million dota players who probably play more casually than a professional player does on the job. Some of us just don't want to give up what we have now for a life of video games, or enjoy the jobs we have now.

I believe we already have a thread like this somewhere from when rankings first came out. Not sure where it is, you'd have to search for a tad.

I agree, most of those "pros" i've never seen in my life and i try to watch most of the big non-amateur tournaments around, makes no sense that for participating in a trash-tier tournament you suddenly become 10x better than everybody else at your same mmr (or higher)

@HotSalza do you happen to have the link? or if the dev team responded to it? I would love to learn about it

@Korrosiv yeah, and there are pro players who are actually not very good.

+1, being a professional player just means that you have a good team, not neccesarily that you are better than the average 6k mmr pubber.

Another thing they need to change is the impact that games played have on rankings. Just because you play 3000 games then it does not mean that you are good at the game, and neither does the fact that you play 1000 games on a single hero mean that you are good at the hero.

They obviously also need to weight ranked games higher than normal games and weight solo queue games higher than party queue games.

I am sure they are working on it though.

If they are not good, then they are not pros

@YNIT You seem to be suffering from a common misconception. A proffessional is merely someone who is paid for their services or the sport you are playing. It is not a word that descripes skill.

name a pro thats lives from playing dota and sucks.

                      He's an A-star student, y...

@YNIT first tell us, how do you measure skill?

if your answer is mmr, then why the fuck is Akke only 5000 mmr and why are there thousands of non professional players with higher mmr than him?

if your answer is something else then im afraid your way of measuring it is based on opinion and thus not worth a cent.

Noone said it had to be your only income. A professional is not defined as someone who only lives by the income of one profession.

please go, the "dotabuff devs" (fun fact only 2 guys actually created dotabuff) rarely gives a fuck about this, ive been trying to get ahold of them for 2 weeks but they dont seem to give a shit about the exploit to get free dotabuff plus

even if they decide to give a shit now, i rather keep it for myself because of my experience with them.

I dont haveto say how i measure a good player. U said that some pros are trash, so you tell us how you measure them.

Thanks for the feedback we're still working on improving our beta hero rankings. It's true that pro players do have a bit of inflation going on and it's something we've been monitoring carefully (it has had mixed feedback in the community).

@wave, would love it if you sent an email to support@dotabuff.com Not sure what methods you've been trying to contact through or who you've been trying to contact. Also some trivia - Dotabuff was founded by 4 people.

iirc it was made by a dutch (or belgium?) guy and i think the site was called stats.dota2.be if my memory serves me well. i guess he had co workers with him too.

about the exploit, jason told me to add him, i add him and he hasnt accepted instead he declined and kawaiisocks is just pretending to be afk and deleted me rather than listen to what i had to say. i also did send an email to support regarding my tag a long time ago that was given to me for playing limited hero pool 30-40 times and nobody answered to that either.

i feel like im being toyed around and im not cool with that
