they can get easily 100-140 ms ping in us east, eg did the right thing
Why would anyone agree with EG? Finland is not europe west. The admins are just awful at geography.
Quite a shame to do such drama for a few ping, If you can't play with +-100 ping from what you except just give up competitive gaming. Hope they get bans from their next tourney.
I have a shitty internet connection and can play on every servers with less than 300 ping so i call this BS. It's part of their job.
Perhaps but an extra 200 ping on every player compared to the other team is quite the big handicap. Especially when the other team has that ping advantage in both games.

the issue is the team is classified as EU west by the tournament (because older tournaments did so), therefor the are EU west as far as the rules of the tournament go.
hows that the issue when eg has 150 ping average on us east while they have 200 and on eu its 230 vs 100 ( taking guesses)
and how is it wrong to consider Finland as a western European country are you fucking smoking or what
Rules are rules and there is not reason for a team to not give themselves every advantage possible as long as the rules are in their favor.
Someone clearly made the error considering them an EUW team considering they're closer to Japan than they are the east coast of the USA
have a conversation about Eastern Europe with someone and bring up Finland and tell me people dont look at you as if you're retarded

Sou ka it doesn't matter if you don't see Finland as an eastern European country. Geographically they are located in the eastern part of Europe. That's what they should go after because that is what influences the ping.

obviously it sucks for them to get us east twice but what is better 2 unfair games or 2 somewhat fair games
like if you want to give them both a game on their server wouldn't it be fairer to play one on us west on one on eu west?
but nobody wants that shit but it's fairer but it's not better
if you want to talk about fairness the biggest factor here is probably that every eg player is very used to playing on us east even if they dont have the best ping
while eu players really aren't used to it for the most part
but i dont know if you can take that into consideration as it is to some degree an aspect of quality of a player
doesnt make them a better dota player but certainly makes them a better online player
Finland classified as Eu West. American geography ftw. Most people on Reddit agree with Americans because mkst Reddit users are from NA and prolly dont know where Finland is located either. The again who cares its a small tourney anyways
finland is actually classified as EU West so im not sure if you're being sarcastic? the eu west/east classifications have more to do with politics than actual location. geographically, sweden and norway would both be considered eastern europe
Finland is located more to the East than Poland so yeah no. And in this case we are discussing distance not politics. Also geographically Norway and Sweden are Northern Jurop. (Or North West w/e).
