It feels weird clicking the "Forum" at the top and not going to the forums. Now I have to get used to clicked "Home"
idk if it'd be easy to do but you should totes add a link to each profile's dotabuff underneath their name or something
Is there a way to view your own profile besides clicking on your picture in a post of yours?
Oh fuck, I forgot to say, seems Asia has an issue with the domain and I will be looking into that.
Which is odd cause Zenoth got in ok....might be some regions.
Please feel free to post or private message me suggestions for the site. Design stuff or anything you may think of!
Congrats mate!
I agree with Scrubby though, but its a preference thing. Some people like certain looks more than others.
The only advice from a design perspective is:
the board index servers no purpose on top, that is your prime location in posts, move this to the bottom the page.
The contrast is too high, high contrast should be only given to header information like category headers.
Get a favicon :)
Great job otherwise, and good luck
It worked once when I loaded it in school, which apparently routes Hong Kong's network or something? But it didn't work other times. That's the only lead I've got.
I live in Beijing, China.
Its called the great fire wall of china and it effects a lot of people in that area, I will see if there is a way to get around it.
what happened to the sub-forums? like bugs, hacks/glitches, current events, troll cave etc... Might have to copy a page out of talkdota.com, joindota.com gosugamers.net etc...
Also on top of board index you should post copies or direct link to dota buff's Heroes, Items, players etc... Or take a page out of dotamax.com or make them be in a frame or div page in your forum.
The colors are too dull and bright. Say do black on grey or something. just lacks contrast. IT's like whitish blue tabs look wierd. Also wash out grey text. And awkward light green. The links are dull too. Should be a set color like grey, white, black and red etc...
Also option to have a simple theme like white backgrond on black text or black background on grey block and white text. dark red with bold red mouseover etc..
I think it should be better to just improve this place instead of creating another one, but well, if the admins don't do anything...
All the above would have been nice, and are still very possible but consider I am doing this all alone so don't have the time to have done it all in one go.
This is what I refer to as phase 1 and is a base site which people can make suggestions on and I will add features as things change. People all have good ideas and think that things should be a certain way but unless their willing to help out and do it most will simply go into a queue were I will work on them when I get the time.
Cause the policies of your country don't allow you to, I am trying to work on a proxy that you will be able to access the site from.
@ Fourier the reason he's making a BBS is cuz this dotabuff still in the 90s and refuse to even have directories. It's like the steam discussion on games with no search options unless ur google savvy. DB isn't gonna improve the forum so I think players will move to other message boards if this one is lacking.
!!!! Updated with a topic.. link: http://dotaexchange.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=47
Update, you can now login using steam! Those of you that have a login already you can simply add steam to your existing account.

Over the last week I have been putting a lot of time into a forum area that is run, and developed solely by the community, that has finally come to the end of the testing and you can get the "Phase 1" release here http://dotaexchange.com.
My hope is that people will use the forum in a mature and polite manner driving constructive and helpful communication helping to smooth out a lot of the issues people have with other forums. The forum is new and growing so it will take feedback, and initiative from everyone involved to not make it thrive but to keep it going.
I have tried to give it a very modern and slick user experience while not robbing people of the simplicity of the sites they're used to like this one. Over the next few days I should expect to see a lot of people coming onto the forum and I do want (for now) people to be considerate that not all their posts will be replied to and that for somethings (like moderation) it will take time and people are happy to submit changes they would like to see, or better yet, volunteer their expertise to make those changes happen.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all there and I will be popping onto dotabuff not just for stats but the for the time to time response. It has been my absolute pleasure being with you all on here and I learnt as much from you as some of you did from me and I hope to keep that going.
Wishing you all the best in your gaming endeavors, and again the site is http://dotaexchange.com and all are welcome.
