How to get better? in General Discussion

    Hey guys!
I feel that I am a decent player. Average or above, it does not matter. My question is how do I challange myself to get better?
In a lot of matched even with friends I'm experiencing a lot of inconsistent gameplay.
Sometimes I feel that my own judgement is sometimes clouded by greed or that I perform worse under stressful circumstances.
My favorite character is Meepo i felt joy in learning how to play him and I mostly do well with him. The reason was that I felt that after I had learned the basics of Meepo i had become a greater player. Now I am experiencing a steady decline. I play less and less dota because of work and I feel that I have nothing to play as or play against that would really challenge me.
The simple answer would be to play more games but I feel as I'm only facing people that are far below me in terms of skill or much better than me. Therefor inconsistent.
Basicly I mostly crush or get crushed and it's been like this for the last 50 games. As if the matchfinder decides before the game even plays out that you or them will win.

Do you guys know any good ways to challenge yourself? I've been thinking about joining a team but I have not found a team where the players are knowledgeable enough or have enough rating to put me in a dire situation only come out on top.
I say this not because I consider myself to be an elite player, but because I want to maybe get there one day.

    Hopeless

if you are being crush or crushing, it is usually a line-up issue imho.

"I play less and less dota.."

"I say this not because I consider myself to be an elite player, but because I want to maybe get there one day."

        Don´t really go well together.

Why not just enjoy your games, have fun and try to play your best at whatever mmr you are?

And about you either crushing or getting crushed, Dota 2 is a bit of a snowball game where the early game often decides who will come out on top and a gold/xp lead there will cause an even bigger lead later unless the party in the lead messes up massively. It can be very tough to get back from a rough start, especially in pubs where a lot of players will just give up after giving as much as first blood away.
