Ethereal units cannot attack or be attacked. Thats the main reason i guess. (+take 40% extra magic damage).
look trolling is an art,
but sometimes it's not for trolling,
for example
arcane boot is a very nice item on jugg and sniper for pushing
midas is generally a very good item for #4 support, roaming support
too bad few people realize that, lol lol lol
my thought is that when initiating a team battle you ethereal the carry on the other team. (doing damage). then gush him (doing bonus damage). then ravage (doing bonus damage). basically you are disabling and doing a lot of extra damage to the most important hero on their team.
but this is likely nowhere near as strong as refresher and ulting twice.
ethereal is good against tard carries who don't get a bkb lol lol lol
wait they don't have a bkb against tidehunter ? lol lol lol
4900 is 2 expensive for one item that is mostly useless before you complete it especially on hero like tide hunter
just think about alternatives
refreher is like 5400
blink + fs + magic wand = 4909
blink + mek = 4500
blink + veil = ~ 4900
etc
Only real thing I can think of is picking off a key support like a warlock. Otherwise it's just preventing physical damage for a time which just having a ghost scepter would suffice for that, so not sure why they take it to ethereal.

i saw good players getting ethereal blade on tidehunter two games in a row.
is this a new build that is just becoming popular?
can anyone explain the reasoning behind it? seems like a lot of agility going to waste for not that strong of an effect
