From the FAQ:
"My match said "no stats will be recorded" but Dotabuff counted the match anyways, help!"
Unfortunately we don't have a perfect process for determining whether or not a match "counts" or not. The Dota API does not supply enough information or a concrete process for making this determination. We have developed an in-house algorithm that has over 99% accuracy, but it cannot be sure in all situations.
If and when Valve adds support to the API that allows us to determine whether a match counted, and if each player received a win, loss or abandon, we will retroactively fix all matches and recalculate records. Please do not contact support regarding this issue, we are powerless to fix this.
I disagree with your statement regarding "99%" accuracy or I am very well falling into this "1%" of inaccuracy. :) I got interested what info valve provide on APi calls for matches. :)
We have a full test suite for known modes (correlations between pieces of data and match significance), but there are certain situations where we just can't know whether or not a match counted given the data.
We care greatly about this issue and want to be able to offer 100% accuracy. We had previously tackled this by parsing replay files for all matches and looking for a "safe to leave" message, but Valve has disabled that. As it stands, we just don't have enough data to know for sure.
If it says "Abandonment by *player*. This game is now safe to leave", it still counts in both Dota 2 and in dotabuff. If it says "Early abandonment by *player*. This game is now safe to leave. No stats will be recorded.", then Dota 2 will not record the match and dotabuff has only a 1% chance of recording it. It sounds like you are confusing the two.

Not a 1%, if someone completes the game, until one of the ancients are down, or until rly late, maybe 20+ minutes, it would 100% count here on dotabuff, but maybe if everyone leaves within a minute, it might not count.
If it says no stats will be recorded then that game wont affect ur MMR but it shows up in dotabuff since it does not detect which games count or not.

just to understand. Why are games counted in the statistics, although someone else quit the game and eventually it is said that it is safe to leave? Had now several games where this happened and it still counted.
Just to understand.
