Only if Valve completely removed access to the game. I see REALLY old multiplayer flash games and it STILL has players.

          Dark Hunter

Dota is like 15 years and Dota 2 still has steady players for 6 years this is very good for a multiplayer game. And also we see that the tournament prize always increase each year.

Dota 2 will be dead when the god itself dead which is Gaben, otherwise the curse still exist.

According to an unknown source once Gaben absorbed all the creatures in the universe, which is half of the God's power, and this power is accelerate and he will become so powerful that he will be as powerful as the God and thus making him capable of making the curse. He immune to everything in this universe that is exist or non exist, that is physical or hypothetical, omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent he is the one above all Lord Gaben.

But he has 1 curse because of Gaben so powerful God become very jealousy and use all of his power to curse Gaben. And the curse is Gaben will stay aging no matter what happen.

So the only thing to make dota 2 die is to wait until Gaben die too.

League of Legends, Counter-Strike, and Dota, Starcraft have all been around for at least a decade now in one form or another. These pillars of esports don't seem to be dying anytime soon. Starcraft is weakening already though.

Tbh the main danger to Dota's lifespan is if people lose trust in the features that make it attractive: its depth, its dynamism, its constantly evolving meta and trust in the ranked system to do its job.

Anybody who has even reached Archon likely found this game attractive for these very reasons. Dota has such a steep learning curve that anyone who isn't serious about it will likely get turned off by the features that makes it attractive to its core audience (think Dark Souls and Sekiro). Dota is the market leader when it comes to hardcore MOBAs, simply by virtue of the number of items, strats, interactions, things you can do, etc etc, compared to LOL and HOTS who were basically fighting over the same crowd.

So for Dota 2 to die, I'd say it would have to be replaced by Dota 3, or have a long period of poor balance and a shit meta, or too many smurfs that would kill trust in the ranked system. The reality is that with gaming companies recently, their strategy for AAA games is to give it mass appeal, which Dota definitively doesn't do, so I doubt there would be a direct competitor that would outshine Dota in those categories anytime soon. Competing companies are more likely to make LOL and HOTS clones instead.

Volvo have added Quality of Life changes but have left the difficulty curve and sheer dynamism to do its thing. If anything, they have added more dynamism over the years. For example they made smoke of deceit undetectable by sentries, or making sentries cheaper but have a stock limit to make the invisibility mechanic more dynamic, as well as making supports have a real inventory from having backpack so that 5s have room for core items. All very good for the strategic health for the game, long may that continue.

Fun of dota is already dead to me pretty much. Ofc I might do some $ from dota still but fun aspect is gone and might not return

Game is too large to fail much like other esports classics. Dota 2 is still the most popular steam game and has double the concurrent players as PUBG which is a good example of a 'fad' game.

Probably never, the game is too great.

Not in near future . After centuries probably every teenager will become lazy as fuck due to ease of technology and dota will be the new football/soccer .
