Unfortunately that ^ is the only real solution. I don't think changing your settings will help. All I can suggest is making sure all other programs are closed on your PC before you play Dota.
we got the same problem.. what i did was, is I rollback my GPU driver.
Start>Device Manager>Display Adapters> Your GPU (e.g Geforce 920m, GTX 460/560)> Properties> Update Driver>Browse my Computer for Driver Software> THEN CLICK LET ME PICK AVAILABLE DRIVERS THEN FIND YOUR OLD GPU VERSION. try them all.. find the best suited version. (Sometimes updating Drivers gives you problems or issues in some Games.:)

Hey so in the Battle Pass they included Reimagined Versus Screen. The old Versus Screen always loaded very slow for me, and the new one has been freezing my game and kicking me out the game, then i have to reconnect and it loads me into the started game. Any one know if there is away to turn off the Versus Screen that shows up right after the draft and before loading into the game? Or any advice on settings changes anyone could recommend?
